Welcome to Howard Nurseries!

Howard Nurseries Ltd. is one of the country's largest, wholesale perennial specialists. Established over forty years ago from humble origins our business, like our plants, has grown steadily in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. Over the years we have strived to develop valued and long-term relationships with our customers and suppliers.

We grow over 2 million plants annually, supplying Independent Retailers, Nurseries, Local Authorities and Garden Designers. Our extensive open-ground, 9cm, 1 and 2 litre pot production includes over 1500 varieties. With 95% of our plants coming from our own propagation we can be sure of their quality and being true to name.

Howard Nurseries has an enviable reputation for both the range and quality of the herbaceous perennials we supply. Field production offers robust material, combining with our container grown range to provide a continuity of supply for your propagation, potting or planting needs.

In these days of growing environmental awareness we have made the business more sustainable through recycling initiatives, solar electricity generation to power our production, water conservation through our reservoir and the use of green growing methods such as our near peat free production cycle for our bare root plants.

The wholesale nursery is located on the gently rolling southern slopes bordering Constable Country between South Norfolk and Suffolk. Soils vary from sandy to medium loam pH 6.5 – 7.6. The prevailing westerly winds never seem to rest and although we are on the ‘dry’ side of the country, rainfall is still about 700mm (30 inches) a year.
