Perennials
The Container Manager, Gavin Erith
runs a tight unit of approximately 2ha (5 acres) of container production.
Beds consist of gravel over Mypex with concrete roadways/slab runways
and polythene tunnels for winter protection.
Overhead irrigation is used and all
run-off, drains into our reservoir. The majority of potting is carried
out with a Javo potting machine (see right) for 9cm, 1 litre, 1.5 litre
and 2 litre sized pots, supplemented by some hand potting when
necessary.
Compost is delivered in bulk and
incorporates 20% bark as well as Intercept for vine weevil and foliar
pest control.
